In his doctrinal book Mein Kampt, Adolf Hitler, highlighted ‘that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying.’

Putting in perspective stories international media have brought in the spotlight for decades, starting from the most recent ones [Libya and the humanitarian case which prompted NATO’s intervention, Ivory Coast and French intervention to oust Laurent Gbagbo, Iraq war and weapons of mass destruction, Rwanda and the assassination of Juvenal Habyarimana, Srebrenica massacre, and many more), there are many reasons to make people believe that most of events that the general public are fed with are complete lies. Certainly, these monstrous lies serve a well known agenda by those who fabricate them. Duke Tagoe points in the following lines some interesting views worth considering when you will next be digesting any big news story.

The power of the media is becoming increasingly evident every passing day. It is firmly in charge and directs opinions. The media has on several occasions imposed on us the view and the thinking of a people who have sort to keep the worlds’ workers into total bondage and absolute submission.

The media have advanced the argument that, some of us are unemployed and are losing jobs because China has had so much influence on the economy of the world. The media has not told us that the social upheavals across the world, is as a result of the situation where the lands, machinery and mineral have been taken over often by force by a group of people who do not amount to one-third of the world’s population [Occupy movement call them the 1% - my emphasis] and these groups of people can be found in every corner of the world.

The media has drummed home this view that you’re most likely not to succeed when you live in some part of the world. It has never mentioned that it doesn’t matter where you live and where you were born and that it is possible not to have access to healthcare and be deprived of shelter and even sleep on the streets in the United States of America.

Why is the media hiding away from the world view the brutal crackdown of protestors on the streets of the United Kingdom, Bahrain, the United States, and many others. The media has become a weapon which is often applied in the dissemination of opinions which can ratify a war on Iraq, Libya and possibly Syria and Iran. The media determines which war is right and just. You can be the most brutal leader or President and get the media adore and hail you as a prophet and God sent.

Heinous crimes have been committed with the active connivance of the media and it has on numerous occasions justified why a certain people deserved to be killed or executed. Today, with the able assistance of the media, Israel is committing horrible and some of the most atrocious crimes and killing the Palestine people like bees for insisting on their right to live as a free and an independent people. They have not spared pregnant women and months old babies. They have told us that the extermination exercise of the Israelis will advance a good course.

Citizens of the world, the right wing media has cunningly and deliberately tried to make us believe that we are all equal. They say these to prevent us from realizing the exploitation of the weaker members of our communities.

My brothers and sisters, be mindful of what you read, watch and listen to. Read, watch and listen to the media which looks in the face of President Barack Obama, Avigdor Liberman, Benjamin Nyetanyahu and their likes and asks them to get lost without any excuses.

Read the papers whose editors and reporters are not in the books of the bourgeoisie in whose interest the current order of things are maintained so they can continue living like Arabian Kings and Queens. The media is powerful and as [its victims – my emphasis] we must realize it. Lets take away the influence the right wing media has had on our thoughts and which seeks to get us continue to worship and never question the contradictions of our societies. These media outlets can be found in the United States of America, Africa, United Kingdom and every where there are oppressors. The color of the skin is not important. It is the idea which emanates from the human skull for it is that which has created the current systems which have heightened human suffering like never before. Beware!
